Time to say goodbye.
Characters: Samantha, Barbara. Then Spike and Angel.
Time: 3 AM
Location: Angel's Mansion.
Thread Status: Open to Barbara at first. Followed by Spike, and then Angel.

Sam sat there for the next hour, her eyes searching her lovers as he spoke to her about … everything that had happened between him and Buffy the vampire Slayer. Some of the things.. she never could imagine him doing, but others.. she was unable to repress the growl of jealousy that erupted through her clenched lips. But, she had to keep her calm, she promised him that she would.

He told her about how the dream had started with him being obsessed with always wanting to kill her. To get another slayer in his notch of kills in his bedpost.. but it turned into something else. The obsession changed and he became.. in love with her. The dream… it had changed everything. His heart. His mind. his body. His .. well, mini-him. He had tried to get her to be with him, but nothing had ever happened.

She turned him down at every turn and every corner. That was.. until she had died.

Buffy died saving the world - ugh - for the second time, and Spike had been utterly devastated. Her heart admittedly hurt at the idea of Spike being so heart broken, and she had curled up into his side, trying to be comforting as he talked. She felt better when he had wrapped her up in his arms, holding her close to him as he continued to talk. He told her of how Buffy just wanted to feel.

During a very… very terrible little couple of days where everyone was singing. Although, Sam admitted that she would have loved to be there.. she would have loved to hear him sing.. She was sure that it was.. heavenly and sinful at the same time. His voice just did that to her regularly.. she couldn't wait to hear him sing to her one day. But anyway. After all the singing.. they had kissed. And their relationship began.

She, of course, was ashamed of being with him. She kept their relationship a secret, and he continued to sleep with her whenever he wanted to, and whenever she wanted to as well. They brought down buildings, literally.. and it made Sam want to destroy an even bigger building then an already condemned house.. Just to one up the slayer.

The relationship had ended sourly.

But for some reason, she kept him in her heart. So close to it that she would let him be apart of the good fight, and Sam was a little upset by that. She couldn't shake the feeling that Buffy was still in love with Spike, and that she would do anything to get him back. Well, maybe not anything, but that she wouldn't mind the vampire to be so close to her again.

The conversation had turned to her, but she was unable to tell him anything, because there were footsteps in the mansion, and they had belonged to her sire. There was only one set, and she took in a deep breath. She could feel the sorrow, and the pride, and the.. just pain… she didn't know what else was there, but she knew what this was going to be.

She turned to Spike and pressed a soft kiss to his mouth, her fingers gently tracing the skin over his cheekbones, down his cheek and chin before she was up and out of the bedroom before he even had a chance to blink. She moved down the hallway, and down the main staircase to see Barbara sitting by the fire. She took in a deep, unneeded breathe again and crossed her arms over her chest.

"How long are you staying?" she asked softly.

She knew that her sire brought her here for a reason. She knew, that that reason was either the fight.. or Spike. She also knew, that even though they loved each other dearly, and that they were family.. and best friends.. Sometimes when one had a different path than another.. they had to let them go. Because if you truly love something.. or someone.. you must let them go.

Barbara tilted her head to the slightly as she peered up at the man she had willingly handed herself over to while caught up in the moment. Although as things seemed to fade into reality it seemed like a rash decision and she could understand why some, Spike and Samantha for example would see this as a bad move. Only time would tell if she had made the right decision, but there was no backing out now. She had to see this thing through, no matter how ugly or hard it may turn out to be.

She knew this was going to be rough, she knew that from the moment Angels scent had invaded her world and shattered the false sense of security she had built around herself. He had burned her sinuses and made her feel like she had just snorted wasabi through her nose. Everything that was primal told her to run, to get away, but a bigger part of her, the part she couldn’t control, the part that doomed her, pushed her into the darkness.

This was going to be new for him, in the sense that it had always been Angelus who had the reigns when darkness reared it’s ugly head. She very much doubted he had come close to even acknowledging that this may very well be a part of him as well, not just his evil counter-part.

Well, she did hear through the grape-vine he had set Darla and Drusilla on fire but that was awhile ago. He would take training, it was an odd thing to think about but she was willing to be there when he struggled, and to take the brunt of the consequences when he struggled. She truly thought that he needed this, just as she did...it would just take time for him to acknowledge that, to accept it, and to learn how to excel in it. She had faith in him however, this sort of thing came naturally to him when he let his guard down and stopped holding himself back. She just had to be patient.

“I can see him,” She purred, her voice velvety as she crossed the distance that separated them from one another. “Just behind your eyes, I can hear him...he’s screaming...” Her voice dripped like honey, and her tongue ran slowly across her bottom lip. “You are too sugar.” Her hands move to his hips, over his stomach, up his chest, fingernails biting through his soft, cotton shirt. She tipped her head back, standing on her tip-toes, even then, he towered over her. She felt him shaking, beneath her touch and she could only smile like a mischievous child.

“What are you gonna do about it?” She whispered, just soft enough so only he could hear, despite vampiric hearing.

She wondered what worlds lay before her, what life would she have to adapt to in Los Angelos? She briefly wondered if he had friends there, a new family he swore to protect. How would they take to her? She felt her stomach clench inside of her and she recalled that she hadn’t eaten in several days and would probably live to regret that. She was going to have to go vegan for him, and she knew she had little choice in the matter...Sam’s blood was still strong on the back of her tongue, she tasted of burnt sugar, hickory and watermelon....She hoped it would be enough to sustain her.

She wondered how long it would be until he could trust her, how long would he keep her caged? Would he hide her from his friends? There was so many questions she wanted the answers too....she wanted to know her new rules.

So she could start breaking them.

This was going to be a blast.

This was why Spike had spent so much time away from the house back in the day. It was like living in a damned soap opera with the mood swings and drama and sudden changes of heart. Then again, what did one expect when you live with three women and a pounce all under one cozy little roof? Sometimes Spike churned up trouble just to get Drusillas attention, she was always so involved in whatever was going on between the triad that was Darla, Barbara and Angelus.

He remembered once, Angelus and Spike had left, gone away for a few weeks and left the girls alone. They had come back and Barbara was quiet, which was odd because she was going through a phase at the time where she was just as much of a trouble maker as he was, maybe even worse because she could get away with more. Angelus had a soft spot for her and mostly just chuckled at her blood-smeared grin. Darla had been harping at him for weeks to ethier train her right, keep her on a leash or get rid of her. Angelus had only nodded and said yes darling and whatever it was he had to do to keep her happy as head of the household. At the end of the day, nothing was really ever done, her cries of pain melted into cries of pleasure within moments and Spike remembered Darla glowering in the other room.

Drusilla had always giggled with her hands over her mouth and then came to see Spike asking for a punishment she didn’t deserve but he gave to her anyway, because it was what she needed from him.

She was quiet, and she kept her eyes down and kept her distance from Angelus even when he had tried to approach her. It didn’t take long to find out why, Drusilla had whispered to Spike that her Grand-mummy had been quite cross and wicked. Spike had found Drusilla bathing her sister later and her body was littered with scars, burns and bruises. There was evidence of bones broken that he had to break and reset himself because Drusilla just didn’t know how and they would heal wrong if he hadn’t. He had reported this to Angelus who was silent for a long moment before going to see his childe, who backed herself into a corner until Angelus was finally fed up and ripped the clothing from her body to see the evidence himself.

Darla had merely hung back, a smug smile on her face that said she did what Angelus should have done a long time ago, made the girl learn her place. Angelus was at a loss for words for the first time Spike had seen, but he never left the girl alone with Darla again. If he had too for whatever reason, he made Spike stay with her.

“Right then,” He announced to the room, breaking the staring contest between Angel and Barbara, and bringing Sams eyes toward him slowly, as if they couldn’t believe he’d interrupt such a precious moment. Ugh. Women... “If you two are going to snog or bump uglies or...whatever it is you plan on doing with one another can we...not do it in this room. Or hey! Better yet! How about not in my bloody city at all! That sounds like a grand idea.”

He heard Sam chastise him with a hissing tone and he shrugged. “What!?” He asked, a little louder than what was needed, “We all know he’s gonna drag her back and show her off like it’s pretty women.” Did Spike just admit he’d seen that movie? Nope, keep moving. “How you gonna do that by the way mate? Any ideas? Your lot of Angels Avengers are gonna have her staked the second you leave them alone with her. You plan on hiding her, or maybe just keeping her caged up until the human is out of her system? I’ve gone through those withdrawals man, and so have you, it ain’t gonna be pretty, you don’t keep an eye on her...she’s gonna slip.”

"You have avengers?" He heard Barbara ask, apparently completely missing the whole point of Spikes little rant and he sighed, wiping his hand over his eyes. “She’s hopeless.” He mumbled, and looked at Sam who was biting her lip to keep from smiling. “You’re not much better, Lord what have I gotten myself into?”

He mumbled some time of curse as he pushed past Angel, bumping into his shoulder as he did so. Where he was headed he had no idea. He had to think, mostly because he knew everything he had just said about Barbara was true also about Samantha. She’d have to go bloodless or the slayer would have both their hides.

This was going to take some work..
